This Napa Cab will live long and prosper. Intense, rich and elegant with dark plum, blackberry compote, mocha, espresso and smoky, oak spice flavours on the palate. Decant for two hours prior to pouring with a slab of Ribeye steak done rare. Or cellar for 15 plus years.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: filet mignon, pork tenderloin, pizza, pasta, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Harley rated this wine as 96/100
Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

A big unleashed Cab that is viscous and voluptuous, with creamy tannins and a luscious blackberry and licorice note. There's chocolate covered espresso beans and tea leaves and if you give it another whirl, it just keeps on delivering new flavours. Try with linguine with pork and fennel sausage @wrightwineblog
Jisun Hahn CAPS Certified Somm rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A gorgeous full bodied red that is both intense and elegant at the same time. Dark luscious cherries dipped in chocolate intermingle with savoury basil and plum compote. Smoky tobacco leaves lie underneath and that finish lingers on and on. Pairing this wine with filet mignon covered in bone marrow jus with a side of sauteed rapini and garlic would be a decadent but well deserved treat.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The Caymus Special Selection is indeed special- price wise and by reputation. This full-bodied wine has black fruit and slight licorice flavour aromas promising deep sipping. But the surprise is in how delicate (some call this elegant) the wine is on the palate with a hint of sweetness and chocolate. I recommend enjoying this wine on its own, or with very delicate appetizers. Perhaps slivers of fresh parmesan with the thinnest slices of beef carpaccio. Absolutely drinkable now or further aging, if you must.
From the Wagner Wine Company, Caymus 2015 Special Selection is a rich and intense Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with layers of ripe blackberry, red cherry, plum, chocolate, anise and smoky vanilla flavours on the palate. Beautifully crafted by Wagner and Caymus, Enjoy now or cellar over the next 20 years. - Community Wine Reviews
