Chianti Classico food pairings: stuffed roasted turkey, steak topped pizza, pasta in tomato sauce, breaded veal cutlets.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

An interesting Chianti Classico 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot for good measure. A very pronounced and savoury bouquet with cherry, plum, raspberry, prune, vanilla, liquorice, clove and leathery old wood. Very savoury. Also pronounced flavours of cherry, plum, bitter dark chocolate, graphite and minerals. Medium Plus acidity and tannins with a long finish. Medium bodied, dry (4g/L) and developing. An outstanding example, drink now but can also age generously. Pair with cured meats, sun-dried tomato olive dishes and veal parmigiana.

From the Tuscany wine region Castelli Del Grevepesa Clemente Vii Riserva is a great value Chianti Classico. This robust Sangiovese red is named after Pope Clemente VII in 1523, who was originally named Guilo de Medici, a member of the Medici family of Florence. Great cake spice and ripe cherry mocha nose, with ripe cherries, dark chocolate and espresso from oak aging on the palate. Pair with tomato sauce dishes. Enjoy now. - Community Wine Reviews
