Juicy and mouth-watering with lots of acidity for tangy tomato dishes. On the nose, black cherry and mocha. This wine was aged for 24 months in oak barrels, and another 3 months in bottle.

Chianti Classico food pairings: beef, mushroom risotto, blue cheeses on burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Herbal and menthol notes as another wine writer said, but beautifully aromatic than many chianti Fuller richer style with barely a hint of tannin. Star element is the nose but beauty of modern palate almost matches nose.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Initially subtle before opening up, this Riserva offering of Chianti Classico will benefit from a little more aging prior to enjoying. In the mean time, a healthy decant reveals ripe red fruit, pleasant rose petal, and slight dried herbs and spices. Acidity, tannins, and body are in good proportion to one another. A touch rustic as the tannins have a little edge and the acidity pops with sour cherry notes through the finish. Indeed a classic offering of the style, try this with pasta or ragu.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This opens with lots of leathery notes on the nose and then offers up a hint of candied cherry. Nicely balanced and very approachable with a silky, smooth mouthfeel and dusty tannins on the finish . Try it with lamb shanks or osso bucco. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
From the Tuscany wine region, Castelgreve Riserva (2013) is a great value Chianti Classico with mouth-watering acidity and just made for rich, tomato and pasta dishes. This wine was aged for 24 months in oak barrels, and another 3 months in bottle. Look for dusty herbs, dried flowers, tea leaf, mint and tobacco with ripe red berries and cherries on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews
