Casas del Bosque 2017 Reserva Carmenère is a succulent mouthful of blueberry, ripe dark cherries, sweet plum flavours, smoky vanilla and toasty oak spice flavours on the palate. Excellent value under $20. The wine was aged in oak barrel for 10 months. Fresh acidity on this wine to pair with smoky, braised meats.

Carmenère food pairings: meaty stews, vegetarian lasagne, slow-braised lamb shanks in red wine sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2017 Carmenere, crafted at the Casa del Bosque Winery in Chile, reveals aromas of red cherry, black plum, green peppercorn, sweet tobacco, caramel and sandalwood. Made from Carmenere with a touch of Syrah, the Casa del Bosque shows a full body with lovely integrated tannins and a warm finish. Flavors of dark skin plum, ripe cherry, graphite, smoke, fresh herbs, vanilla and oak. Solid Chilean wine. Enjoy!
From the Rapel Valley wine region, Casas del Bosque 2017 Reserva Carmenère is succulent with a mouthful of blueberry, plum, sweet red cherry, smoky vanilla and toasty oak spice. Excellent value under $17. The wine was aged in oak barrel for 10 months. Zesty acidity on this wine to pair with a meat lover's cheesy pizza. Enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
