This Riserva is an elegant, medium-plus bodied 80% Sangiovese and 20% Canaiolo red wine blend with bright cherry, dark berry, leather, dried herbs, cedar spice and meaty flavours on the palate. Love the lingering smoky finish. Enjoy now and for the next 10 years. Pair with meaty dishes.

Chianti Classico Riserva food pairings: pasta in tomato sauce, breaded veal cutlets, stuffed roasted turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Carpineto delivers as we have come to expect. This Riserva has good concentration of dried raspberry and red fruits on the nose and palate. Somewhat grippy tannins could use a bit of time to integrate. Nice structure and finish. This will be a reliable pick to serve with charcuterie, roasts or spicy pastas. Tasted January 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A reputable Chianti Classico from Tuscany, with Sangiovese leading the blend, the Carpineto Reserva has floral, raspberry and black fruit aromas. Herbs and cedar notes on the palate with black fruit. It is well-balanced with high tannins so it can be aged further or decanted. A long finish, it will go well with roasted red meat or tomato based dishes.
From the Tuscany wine region, Carpineto 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva is juicy black cherry, black currant, tanned leather, earthy florals and dried wild herbs on the palate wrapped up in a whiff of smoke lingering on the finish. Tannins are structured. Nicely done and beginning to show its best. Enjoy now and for the next 10 years. Pair with a game roast. - Community Wine Reviews
