Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This lovely and smooth blend of Portuguese grapes has good concentration of fruit on the nose and palate. Rich and smooth drinking with a decent finish. No rough edges here. Enjoy with beef pot roast. Good value. Tasted January 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium purple in colour; blend of four Portuguese grapes. Pronounced aroma of vanilla, from aging in French oak barrels, lots of blackberry and dark cherry, sage, savory and smoky, and herbal notes. Full bodied and dry, with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. In the mouth the savory and smoky note is more prominent and there is a luscious taste of blackberry and dark cherry. Absolutely superb with smoked beef, and mature cheddar. This is also very pleasant to sip on its own with its long finish of blackberry and cherry.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Classy and refined, the Cabral Reserva 2016, from the Douro region of Portugal, offers warm aromas of sugarplum, black plum, earl grey tea, dust, bread, vanilla and oak. Blended from 25% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz, 20% Sousão, 5% Barroca and 5% Tinto Cão, this wine reveals a full body, lovely balance and complexity. The finish is dry and short, perfect for pairing with cheese. Palate: sour plum, black currant, tea, graphite, nutmeg and vanilla. Enjoy.
Cabral 2016 is a robust and smoky red wine blend of 30% Touriga Franca, 30% Touriga Nacional, 15% Sousao and 15% Tinta Amarela. Grapes are hand-harvested and the blended aged 15 months in French oak barrels. Look for ripe dark fruit, spicy, smoked meat and smoky vanilla flavours on the palate. Fantastic value under $14. Pair with aged cheeses. - Community Wine Reviews
