Some mocha and dark chocolate on the nose is quickly flooded with lusciously ripe black fruit on the palate. Full-bodied and smooth. This winery is located south of Rioja and is comprised of 100% Garnacha grapes. The wine itself was matured in 50/50 stainless steel and French barrels. A long, satisfying finish. Pair with hearty meat dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Dianne Sheridan - Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

I brought this wine out of my cellar. Decant for 2 hours and enjoy!

The grapes for this wine were harvested from old-vine Garnacha vineyards that cling to rugged terrain on the slopes of the famous Moncayo Mountain with low yields of less than 2 t/acre. It is 100% Garnacha, aged in stainless steel and French oak.

Very jammy, full bodied, ripe blackcherry, blackberries, herbs, chocolate. Very smooth. Long ripe blackberry finish.

Pair with a maple marinaded salmon fillet .

Vera rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Intense aroma of dark cherries and light aroma of wild flowers. Beautiful, ruby color with purple tones. On the palate you taste ripe fruit, blackberries or dark cherries, dark chocolate and fine spicing.

It reminds me of a really good Cotes du Rhone red.

Garnacha here is incredibly balanced with just right amount of acidity and silky tannins. It’s worth to decant it or at least to leave the bottle open for an hour or so.

It will slowly grow on your tongue, as you continue sip it. To me, this is very seductive, clean, elegant and impressive wine with a really long finish.

Tres Picos is a wine of ridiculous value (as it always was) and I need to buy some more before it’s gone!

Different, but no less powerful and refined as the 2009. This wine features black cherry, mace, super dark chocolate, and walnut bitters. 91 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)

Valérie Dufour - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is a fun wine and it is hard not to like it so I chose to like it for what it is... a fun wine. Same same every year, full of fruit and sure to please your guests because it is easy to drink and perfect for BBQ.
