Castaño Hécula 2019 Monastrell is a vegan-friendly and organic, smoky, velvety red with grapes sourced from the Yecla wine region. Fragrant, dry, full bodied and fruit-driven with dark berry, plum, sweet dried tobacco leaf, cocoa and savoury herbs, smoky and smooth on the palate. An amazing value 100% Monastrell. Delicious now, pour with a roast of pork or chops from the grill.

Monastrell food pairings: charcuterie, hard cheeses, pork sausages cassoulet.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The Hecula Monastrell 2019 is a lovely organic and vegan friendly wine from Bodegas Castano, located in the Yecla region of Spain. Aromas of red plum, black currant, black pepper, potting soil, sweet tobacco and coffee. The wine shows a full body, pleasant tannins, supple acidity and a dry finish that will pair nicely with a pasta dish. Palate: black raspberry, black currant, lavender, cocoa, tobacco and mocha. Enjoy.
