Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Wes Lowrey's ideal spot and old vines have supported some tremendously impressive expressions of Niagara soil. Not all of them are made by Lowrey's wine label; 5 Rows (which I highly recommend, while visiting Niagara). Instead, this cuvee comes from one of Thomas Bachelders labels.
He has two brands. His Queylus label is his proprietary releases. His Bachelder label is a nod towards how negociants in Burgundy purchase and vinify lots from high quality vineyards. He spent quite a bit of time in Burgundy educating himself, so he uses similar techniques for cherry-picking spots he sees as having unique potential.
This wine is pale ruby in hue and the aromatics are quite intense. Blackberry, violet, rosehip tea, anise, and loads of red and black cherry.
The flavours are absolutely delicious. More cherry and berry, but with some great savoury notes: smoke, brown spice, and more aromatic florality and rosehip.
There are some fantastic wines coming from Bachelder and they're quite affordable for the quality delivered. This is a great mid-term cellar choice (5-7 years?) And would be very fun to try in a vertical of different vintages. Decant for around an hoir and pair with duck confit (with lots of duckfat veggies).
Bachelder's Lowrey Vineyard 2015 Pinot Noir is produced from Old Vines Pinot Noir wine grapes sourced from St. David's Bench, Niagara-On-The-Lake wine region. Intense flavours of black and red berry fruit, earthy florals, savoury spice all wrapped up in a wisp of smoke finishing long with mineral notes. Lovely, well put together, pair this one with seared duck breast and Pinot Noir jelly. - Community Wine Reviews
