Babich Winery has been family-owned and operated since 1916. Their Black Label Sauvignon Blanc was first produced in 2005. The 2017 vintage of the Black Label Sauvignon Blanc was fermented at controlled and cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to keep fresh the varietal flavours fresh. A small portion of juice was fermented in old oak barrels to contribute to the weight and complexity of the wine. A zesty, spritely New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of chives, lime zest and lemongrass. Pair with fresh seafood.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: Asian chicken salad, pork tenderloin, linguine carbonara, pizza, grilled salmon.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Bright floral and gooseberry nose on this Marlborough, New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Rich tropical fruit, citrus lime and zingy herbal palate with crisp acidity. Excellent with shellfish or shrimp salad. You can't go wrong with a Marlborough Sauv Blanc.
Tasted June 2018
Babich Black Label 2017 is produced from Sauvignon Blanc wine grapes from Marlborough, South Island. The winery has bee family owned and operated since 1916 with the first Black Label SB produced in 2005. This vintages is medium-bodied with grassy, gooseberry, green pepper and lemongrass flavours on the palate. Beautifully mouth-watering, pair this Sauv. Blanc with grilled seafood. - Community Wine Reviews
