From the Paarl wine region, Avondale Jonty's Ducks Pekin Red 2016 is a vegan-friendly red wine blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Grapes for this wine were organically grown in the Paarl wine region and the wine's name comes from the ducks that owner Johnathan Grieve has to take care of the snails and other pests that hang around the vineyard. Smoky and spicy on the nose, the wine is smoky and spicy on the palate as well with lush, dark cherry, plum, raspberry, pepper and cedar spice flavours on the palate. It'll be just ducky with burgers from the grill.

Food pairings: bison stew, beef rib, venison stroganoff.

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
