From the Paarl wine region, Avondale Jonty's Ducks Pekin 2018 is a vegan-friendly, medium-bodied red wine blend of organically-grown Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot grapes. The wine's name comes from the ducks that owner Johnathan Grieve has for the purpose of dispatching snails and other pests that hang around the vineyard. Smoky and spicy on the nose with ripe red berry, blueberry, blue plum, leather, dried herbs and citrus zest flavours, it is savoury and sumptuous on the palate with great acidity for food. Enjoy it now through 2026.

Food pairings: bison stew, beef rib, venison stroganoff.
