Jim Barry Wines The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2012, Clare Valley, South Australia, Australia: A top-notch shiraz with aromas of fleshy blackberry and mint. Juicy, smooth and full-bodied. Very tasty. Perfect for hamburgers, pizza and steak. The grapes for this wine are grown in vineyards at an elevation of 480 metres above sea level which imparts great elegance and balance to this full-bodied red wine. Elegance meets decadence in the glass. Drink: 2014-2018. 998476 14% XD 750 mL  $26.95 Score: 91/100. May 16, 2015 Top Rated Red Wine. Plush Pork Wine Full Review
Thorn Clarke Shotfire Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2011, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia: This full-bodied red wine wonder is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 44% Shiraz grapes. It packs a lot of black fruit flavour along with attractive dark spices, pepper and anise. It's concentrated, rich and deep with a long, satisfying finish. Bring it on with a prime rib dish. Two Hands Wines Lily's Garden Shiraz 2012, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: Big, black brooding bruiser that clocks in at 16.5% alcohol. Doesn't taste hot though, just baked in a hot Australian sun. Full-on palate whacker. Pair with T-Rex burgers. Drink: 2013-2019. 162213 16.50% XD 750 mL  $59.95 Score: 90/100. Yalumba Barossa Patchwork Shiraz 2011, Barossa Valley, Australia: A generous, full-bodied, supple red with attractive aromas of black plum, blackberries and black raspberries. Incredible concentration and depth. Great for dinner parties. Shiraz from the Barossa Valley shines, and here is a prime example. Seductive notes of cedar smoke on the finish. With 160 years of Barossa heritage, Yalumba shows exactly what Barossa terroir is capable of. The winery creates this wine from a "patchwork quilt" of soils, aspects, microclimates and cultures, thus the name. Drink: 2013-2020. 98392 13.50% XD 750 mL  $23.95 Score: 91/100. Two Hands Wines Angels' Share Shiraz 2012, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: Huge and towering, this blockbuster Australian red wine weighs in at 16.1% alcohol but the fruit and structure can handle it. Can you? Angels' Share refers to the naturally evaporating amount of wine, say 2%, that goes into the atmosphere from the oak barrels as it ages -- presumably for the drinking pleasure of angels. Medieval winemakers assumed that angels watched over the wines and took their share. Drink: 2014-2020. 9480 16.10% D 750 mL  $29.95 Score: 92/100. September 27, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Quails' Gate Estate Winery Chardonnay 2012, Okanagan Valley, Bc V.Q.A., Canada: A full-bodied and generous Chardonnay with layers of ripe peach and green apple flavour. Babich Black Label Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Superb! Lovely lime lift right through the center: herbal and grassy, more citrus. Medium-bodied and ultra-mouth-watering. Laser-like refreshment and focus with a big hug of citrus zest. Some gooseberry and lemon on the finish. Fresh seafood anyone? Lawson's Dry Hills Dry Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: A dependably great New Zealand Blanc with classic aromas of herbal-grassy notes, mouth-watering acidity and lime citrus lift. This mouth-watering New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was aged ever so briefly in barrel to add some creaminess and texture. Lots of vibrant green citrus and yellow stone fruit aromas and flavours here. Pair with seafood and vegetarian dishes. Drink: 2013-2016. 214460 13% XD 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 90/100. February 21, 2015 Best Value White Wine. Venerated Vegetarian Wine Full Review
La Crema Pinot Noir 2012, Sonoma Coast, California, United States: Fleshy cherry and dark spice with a long, naughty finish. Medium-bodied and satin smooth like lingerie. A supple, smooth red wine with cherry-berry mouth-filling wonder and flavours. Just enough oak for hedonists. Layered yet not heavy. A consistently great producer of classic Californian pinot noir year after year. Love this silky Pinot Noir! It seems to get better every year. Beautiful cherries and field raspberry notes roll in first, then there's fresh earth aromas after a spring rain followed by some baking spices and a long finish. This pinot has been one of my favourites for years. Satin seduction in a glass. Drink: 2012-2015. 719435 13.90% D 750 mL  $39.95 Score: 92/100. September 13, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine.
