A full-bodied Californian Noir with gorgeous layers of fleshy ripe cherry and dark berries and a lick of dark spice. Supple and smooth. Although the alcohol is high for Pinot at 14.5% it doesn't taste hot and is very balanced with racy acidity. The alcohol level will also lend this wine the perception of sweetness and richness. Pair with roast chicken and turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deeply concentrated for a Monterey County Pinot. Super good. Mouthwatering juiciness, red berry, blackberry jam. Medium tannins. Pair with a gourmet burger or enjoy on its own. Nice plump fruit. Tasted 2016 in Nov 2017. 90 points. #bespoketastings
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Very soft and silky Pinot Noir from sunny Monterey County. Less firm than Burgundian amd Oregonian Pinots. Californian Pinot is a great gateway Pinot, leading to an appreciation of the grape. Pinot usually has a prohibitive pricepoint, low yields, and vastly different tastes from locale to locale. This makes it very hard for those getting into wine to fully appreciate the grape. This wine is affordable, easy-drinking, and aromatic. It's the sort of wine that has broader appeal than most Pinots would.
Bright ruby, with purple tones. It is almost glass staining in concentration. It is clearly coming from hotter climates, this wine.
Aromas of toasted marshmallow, candied cherry, chocolate, vanilla, leather, and savoury herbs.
The fruit are ultra ripe amd juicy. Currant, plum, cherry, and a hint of chocolate, from barrels.
At 14.5% alcohol, it is also much heavier than other Pinot Noirs. So for those who lile full bodoed styles, this Pinot is for you
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied and rich Pinot Noir dominated by ripe red cherry and strawberry with toasty vanilla accents. The proximity of Monterey to the water allows cool breezes to regulate the vineyard, maintaining ideal acidity. Good tannins slowly relax as fresh cherry, raspberry, and strawberry dance across the palate. The finish becomes jammy with cherry pie filling and strawberry preserve. Superb with cedar plank salmon and a strawberry summer salad.
