This 2008 vintage is one of only 1800 bottles produced. Oak fermented in the Vin Santo style, Gorgeous Amber-orange in colour, this late harvest Torrontes grape offers layers and layers of flavours and aromas. Sweet (but not cloying)with apricot, honey and butterscotch on the nose, the aromas continue on the palate with an earthy, cinnamon and nutty finish. I'm also wondering if there's some botrytis at play here, with those almost moldy apricot flavours dominating(not a bad thing in this case)! An absolutely stunning dessert wine with full body and a finish that lasts forever! Fantastic by itself or try with Peach Melba or any other stone fruit dessert.

Unbelievable wine with dark plums and damson fruit, along with black cherries, earth and truffles! Truly a complex wine with balancing acidity with velvety tannins and a smooth mouth feel. The bottle is as sexy as the contents inside! Definately worth the $54 price tag! This wine will change over the course of the evening, so decant for even better pleasures!

Layer, upon layer, upon layer of flavour! Love the concentration of aromas here with the big black fruits of blackberries and black cherry with those chocolate and leather tones as well. Full mouth feel with soft tannins and a luxuriously long finish. This is a wine you'd never forget, and would taste even better given time.

This little "Vin de Bourgogne" delivers big with the Vin de Bourgogne AOC 100% Pinot Noir which grows in south Burgundy, almost to Beaujolais, in fact. This is a family owned winery who appreciates the value of hard work on the land ,where the grapes are farmed organically. In my (humble) opinion, it would be hard to find a Pinot Noir for this price with this good quality! Fresh strawberries and blueberries along with that quintessential flinty Pinot aroma, and the so French wet earthiness and mushrooms that I absolutely adore! Refreshing acidity, along with slight oak ageing is also present to soften the tannins which are silky smooth! Try with barbecued or smoked fish as well as soft to medium aged cheeses! Cheers!

This is quintessential Barbera with dark colour, high acid and medium tannins but perfectly in balance! Wines from Asti offer higher acidity and tannins, while those from Alba are more fleshy and round. This one (from Asti) and the high acidity, makes this a very food friendly wine, or quaffable on its own. Red cherries, earth and cigar box aromas match with the palate along with a spicy finish. This is a yummy wine with great structure and texture! $26 on the shelf here in Alberta!
