Ripe, but still fresh with a nose of tea leaf, cassis and rich, black fruit. The palate showcased a reserved freshness, indicative of a cooler climate. Jaime truly believes that Cabernet Sauvignon should be Chile’s number 1 varietal.

The 2015 Las Mulas Merlot is extremely fruit-forward with plum, vanilla and sweet spice. Silky tannins derived from the 6 months of French oak maturation.

The 2015 Las Mulas Sauvignon Blanc is only $12.95 and screams cool climate. Fresh, searing acidity with fruit and spice notes. Torres harvests these grapes early in the season to maintain the classic leafy green notes of Sauvignon Blanc.

$18.95 in vintages is a great price point for this wine. Subdued on the nose with the same stony note as I find on their Chardonnay. With a touch of medicinal on the palate, the black fruit expression remains consistent from nose to palate. The acidity is right upfront exuding freshness in this Cab. I was expecting green tones, but the ripeness was a pleasant surprise.

This wine is 16.25 in vintages. This wine has a natural, fresh salinity and a stony/steely note that follows through to the palate. The palate is round and the acidity maintains the backbone of this wine.
