Cortes, a blend of Monastrel and Tempranillo was a good match for tonight's spicy tomato pasta. It was simple with nice flavour and very easy to drink. A nice everyday kinda wine, easy sipper.

I was impressed with Root: 1 Cabernet Sauvignon the first time I tried it. My dinner date served me a glass of this delicious medium weight cabernet. It had a touch of smoke, nicely balanced palate of red berries and I detected a bit of spice too. These all were a perfect pair to the lovely steak dinner he had prepared. Definitely a wine to add to the shopping list.

It was a cold, wet and rainy, Friday night in February and I was looking for a nice full-bodied red to cozy in with and enjoy snacks and a movie. There it was, right on the label, Big Bold Red at just the right price, under $15 at the BC LRS. It was big and packed with sweet red fruit and relatively smooth to drink on its own but found it much better paired with a nice cheese plate. And at 13.5% alc. it did its job of keeping the chill off.
