Le Vivier Fleurie

Domaine De Grand Garant Le Vivier Fleurie 2013

Cassis and black cherry with characteristic Swedish berry on the nose. The satiny tannins and crisp acidity with a hit of minerality allow this Gamay to punch above its weight class. Paired with a mushroom ravioli in tomato and goat's cheese sauce with arugula and, while not a perfect match, the acidity in the wine stood up well to the creamy sauce.

Seriously Twisted

Pink-honey gold and clear, with apple blossom, citrus and a hint of buttered bread on the nose. This is the popular Flat Rock Twisted white blend made a bit more sophisticated and complex by some time in oak barrels. The palate brings out more citrus and tree fruits with a bit of the characteristic spiciness of Gewurztraminer found in the blend. A pretty, quaffable wine that pairs well with a winter vegetable hotchpotch or roasted poultry.

Cuvée Catharine

Beautiful pink, fresh sparkling smelling of strawberries, stewed rhubarb, blood orange and biscotti. Bone dry with very fine bubbles, this traditional method sparkling made primarily from Pinot Noir is incredibly versatile--enjoy with almost any food or on its own. Was excellent with seared scallops and puy lentils. Great value for consistent quality in a non-vintage sparkler.

Speck Family Reserve

Henry of Pelham Speck Family Reserve Chardonnay 2013

A new release from the Speck family's top-tier vines, the 2013 Reserve Chardonnay is a lovely golden wine. A full-bodied nose and palate brings together the buttery, vanilla aromas of oak aging and limestone minerality with the peachy, citrus and tropical hints of classic new-world Chardonnay. I recommend serving this white a little on the warmer side in order to bring out more of the subtle smells and flavours. Excellent on its own or served with tomato puff-pastry tart. Drink now or lay down for a couple years to let the fruitiness tone down just a bit.

Speck Family Reserve

Henry of Pelham Speck Family Reserve Pinot Noir 2007

Jessica scored this wine: 92/100

This wine is made from hand-picked grapes that come from only the top-tier, south facing vines on the Henry of Pelham vineyard, and only in exceptional years. The 2007 Pinot Noir is a bright garnet red, smelling of cherries and currants, supported by earthy, vanilla oak aromas. It's age is starting to show only slightly as the acids are still very present with luscious tannins. This is a wine that needs food to be really appreciated and it paired extremely well with a creamy risotto served with a red wine butter sauce.
