Avail from the NSLC for $13.99. Nose of straw, honey and grass. Taste of straw, honey and honeydew. Has a silky, creamy fullness with a lemon rind finish (in a good way). A very nice Viognier. Catch the drift...
Al Bégin scored this wine: 86/100
Spanish wine made from the mencia grape. This wine definitely needs to be decanted as we had a fair amount of sediment. Nose of leather, berry, barnyard and light acetone (not necessarily a bad thing). Tastes of raspberry, oak and minimal cocoa. The tannins linger in a nice way. It is nicely balanced between the tannins, alcohol and acid. We give it an 8.6 and wonder what it would be like after another couple of years of cellar time as some sources suggest that it will peak in 2016.
Avail from NSLC for $19.99. Nose of honey, lychee and white grapefruit. Taste of lychee, white grapefruit and lemon. It is crisp, fresh and clean. Emphasis on crisp. Would pair well with seafood or a pasta cream sauce.
