Chateau Pesquie 2012

Adam scored this wine: 93/100

Today I had the privilege of tasting wine with wine Frederic Chaudiere from Chateau Pesquie. The fact that he recognized me, was already enough to make my day; i realize that this is serious wine. The whole range of Light, fun filled 100% Cisault Rose, under the Paradou Label, as well as other regional varietals that are about the best you can get at 13.50$ a bottle on The BC Market, no offense! The red Blends are all very different, Les Terrasses at 18.99$ in the BCLD is approachable, however very serious wine as well as food friendly. The Quintessence is a beautiful expression of how grenache can effect a a blend and give that rustic feel. The Artemia also carries great fruit and a killer backkbone of acidity at a very reasonable 30$ price tag. Chateau Pesquie and Paradou great wine, made by good people! Ask for it, good people know!

Carpineto Riserva Chianti Classico 2010

I was not surprised to find this label in a tasting of this type, Caprineto has been making quality Chianti for quite some time. If I didn't know better I might of thought it was baby Brunello...this wine was the most ready to drink of all the wines tasted. Just a lovely expression of Sangiovese, cherry blossom, tobacco and eucalyptus are all the signs of ready to drink, quality Sangiovese. The nose is worth the pice of admission! Have fun!

Sables D'Azures 2012

Cotes De Provence, France

I learned about wine by searching and studying, so I will probably never post a photo or product code. I would prefer that you stumble across it yourself when the time is right! Michel Gassier, Cotes De Provence "Sables D'Azures" Rose. I'm sure there are a few out there saying to themselves, Not Rose! For those of you that have never had a good Rose from the south of France, this 16$ gem will change your mind! Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre in the right quantities, a little bit of love! BANG you have a well balanced Rose with Acidity and Structure, combined with Animal and Spice for the red drinker, as well as fruit and vibrancy for the white wine drinker too. With chicken, Pork, Salmon or even just a good glass of pink wine on a patio. This is a wine drinkers wine, trust me, I'm having glass right now!

Le Macchiole 2010

Bolgheri Rosso, Italy

Adam scored this wine: 90/100

One of the wineries to plant Cabernet Franc and Syrah in Tuscany, Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso using only french varietals(Typical of the Region), Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah is a wonderful way to get started in the upper echelon of Tuscan Blends without the the 3 digit price tag. The has a bright Jolly Rancher red color and the structure of the wine is evident through core. The nose is earthy up front, but a refreshing minty sensation in the background. Vibrant acidity and darker field fruits attack the buds with a soft tannin finish, enhanced by the slow burn of alcohol lets you know that 2010 was warm in Tuscany. I say big food for big wine, but don't be shy to sit down with a nice bowl of Bolognaise. Great right out of the bottle or the next day. Other wines by the Le Macchiole are Scrio(100% Syrah) Messorio (100% Merlot). In your Face Elegance, well worth the 45$

Not everyone is willing to get to this price point with Chianti, but I will! This wine has everything you need, acidity that fires straight through the palate carrying the fruit and tannins all the way back to the jaw and then bites. I love wines that have a delayed attack to point that you give your head a shake. This is not pizza wine folks, a term I don't particularly enjoy. Remember big wine needs big food, I recommend veal, rabbit...or take some time and braise something.this is serious wine!
