Culmina Family Estate Winery Hypothesis 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia BC V.Q.A., Canada

Jon scored this wine: 92/100

Rich, robust, full bodied, highly concentrated. Inky, big grippy tannins. These tannins will settle down with further aging 5-10 years out. Long finish with persistence of blackberry, cassis, savoury, baking spices. Paired well with rare filet mignon and roasted root vegetables. Tasted 2014 vintage in February 2020, not decanted. 92 points

Jon scored this wine: 89/100

Great value on this old vines red from Douro, Portugal. Prominent black licorice notes over a base of plum, blackberry and savoury. Interesting and unique. Balanced, medium acidity, medium tannins, 13.5% ABV, medium alcohol. Great structure for many pairings. Great with hard cheeses, or blue cheese topped gourmet burgers. Tasted 2017 vintage in June 2019 decanted. 89 points
