I picked up a bottle of this at Kensington Wine Market in Calgary for less than $40.00 We are lucky in Alberta with our wine prices. The wine is crisp, clean, non-oaky, and still good enough to fool the French into thinking its one of their own. I made a lobster, mascarpone, ricotta mixture with a hint of vanilla bean and chopped arugula and stuffed it into pasta shells and called it Soft Shelled Lobster. It was subtle and made a nice pairing for this very subtle wine.

I went to the winery looking for their Viognier but it was sold out. I was disappointed but when they asked Would I like to try the Chardonnay? I quickly gained some mental flexibility and answered YES. Holy serendipity. Yum. Elegant touch of oak yielding mild butterscotch and apricot notes. I'll be enjoying this with my turkey today but also had it with seared curried scallops on a bed of creamed leeks and it married well. I love this winery.

This wine speaks to me of spring and summer. My nose gets first blush apricots all the way through to summer peaches. On the palate the finish has a surprising pineapple hit. When people say they like crisp wine, I think of this one. Its a good "house white" and is fun for parties as it will appeal to many. I'd like to go to New Zealand's Marlborough region to see the soil that delivers such fine sauvignon grapes. Food: It went wonderfully with the spring pea and grilled shrimp risotto I made this evening. I hope to drink this steadily till the day I die. I'll only lay it down when I finally lie down for good!

Karen reviewed this wine:

As warm and ample as a kiss from an expert lover. Leaves me wanting more everytime. I love the black cherry glow and the garnet colour and it transports me to a shared meal of Bistecca in Florence or wild boar ravioli in Arrezzo. Expensive but worth the splurge kind of treat.
