This review is for the 2000 Vintage. When first opened, nose was heavy cassis and pencil shavings, deep red berries, black cherry, plum, vegital and a bit of ocean bon-fire. The nose followed through similar onto the palate, with good acidity and still strong tannins all in good balance. Caramel flavours developed after being open for a while and pencil shavings gave way to something more "oaky". A very MUSCULAR wine. Finish is a bit jammy but still clean.

Old World Wine with new World packaging. From Navarra, Spain, this 2010 Tempranillo has an Old World nose of earthy countryside, cherry, hint of black licorice and with some air and when there is a small amount in glass>>a Barollo-tobacco nose. On the palate>soft tannins and acidity. Youthful cherry and smoky tobacco. In Nova Scotia, NSLC #1013474 $14.99.

In Halifax, available at Bishops Cellar. The aromatic grape in the Cava Blend. If you like Viognier, you'll enjoy this. On the nose, you can sense the oily texture and aromatics similar to Viognier. Palate is Savoury picking up pepper, honey and lime. Finish is Honey, candied and almost "carbonic". This is a wine that can be served by itself, with Canapes, Smoked Salmon and the Umani and creany texture of Sea Urchin, not that I do THAT every day !

NEGROAMARO from Puglia (the Heel of Italy's Boot); A great budget wine!! Soft Acids and tannins, aromas of red fruit and tobacco. On the palate-cherry, prune and tobacco. Great with a cheese board, Pizza or any tomato-based pasta.
