Courtney scored this wine: 87/100

Rustic and lively red made from the Georgian saperavi grape. Juicy raspberry and cranberry with herbaceous notes of rosemary and oregano. Pair with traditional Georgian fare such as grilled beef or pork kebobs, chicken satsivi, goats milk cheeses and roasted eggplant.

Love this Cabernet Franc! From winemaker Derek Barnett with about 30 years of experience, he coaxed some magic of of this grape. Sweet cherry, raspberry jam balanced with black peppercorn and violet. Elegant and juicy, medium bodied and great food wine. Pairs great with Italian tomato-based dishes - eggplant parmesan, lasagna, margherita pizza. Tasted in December 2020 with the winemaker - socially distanced on Zoom...

Meldville Syrah 2017

Very pretty and sophisticated Syrah from the expertise of winemaker Derek Barnett. 2017 started off as a cool spring but then thankfully led into a scorching August and a long warm fall allowing the grapes to fully ripen when harvested the second week of November. Vinified for 23 days on skins, fermented in tank and aged for 10 months in French oak. Sweet, juicy plum, cherry, and raspberry with herbal notes of sage, rosemary, and white pepper. This wine has enough structure to age for another 10 years. Make sure you decant this wine! It starts off a tad funky when opened but that burns off. Pair with roasted or grilled meats.

Decadence!! The name says it all, it tastes like a melted salted caramel sundae with the warmth of 17% and thick, velvety 100% fresh Ontario cream. Great after dinner over ice, and holds its own with a coffee drink (some cream liquors get overpowered by the coffee). I mixed this into a B52 coffee with 1/2 oz each of Wayne Gretzky salted caramel liquor, Kahlua, and Grand Mariner with a double shot of espresso and a dollop of fresh whipped cream. Yummy!

Winemaker's Blend

Thirty Bench Winemaker's Blend Red 2018

Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada

Courtney scored this wine: 92/100

Traditional Bordeaux style blend from the gentle slopes of the Beamsville Bench at the base of the Niagara Escarpment. Blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, this wine has sweet juicy notes of red currant, wild raspberry, blackberry, balanced by vanilla bean and lilac, followed by a spicy note of cracked black pepper. Quite juicy on the palate, medium bodied with lingering notes of cocoa powder. Beautiful as a locally-sourced gift, great pairing with a beef stew on a cosy night,
