Essence De Dourthe 2010

Deeply concentrated dark garnet. Complex nose with dark cherry, cassis, cedar, cocoa and spices intermingling without any one aroma burying another. This wine really opens up with decanting and is a feast for the senses. Great flavors of plum, fig, sour cherry and blackberry woven into a well-balanced blend of supple tannins and juicy acidity. Full bodied and an astonishingly long finish that keeps on featuring everything the wine initially offers. Save this beauty for a special occasion and a special dish like tournedos rossini.

A new offering released in 2017 in limited quantities, this wine is the sum of all the best estate-grown pinot noir vines. Selected carefully from the south, east and west slopes, the three most famous single vineyard grapes are used to make this rarity. The nose presents black raspberry, currants, dark cherry and gentle barrel aromatics. The medium-full weight on the palate is complimented by great acid and tannin balance that supports dark fruit flavors followed by earthy grace notes. The finish lasts forever.

The 2010 vintage garnered wine spectator’s number 3 wine of the year and 2014 captures the essence of what this label consistently offers. The aromas leaping from the glass are dominated by black fruit. Blackberry, blueberry, Cherry and chocolate. Like black forest cake in a glass. Plenty more fruit on the palate with great balance of well-integrated tannins and racy acidity. A supple mouthfeel and medium full body lifted by a long finish with spice and fruit.

The 2014 vintage of this wine won top white wine honors from Wine Spectator and the 2015 is no less remarkable. Thirteen month in barrel with 40% new French oak gives this wine considerable complexity. The nose has depth with subtle brioche scents layered over a rich palate of pineapple, butterscotch, lime and ginger accents. A supple mouthfeel and good acidity compliments echoes of its fragrant nasal character. Plenty of balance and a super long finish.

Light garnet and a slightly brickish rim. Blackberries, cherry caramel and spice show well on the nose. In the mouth the wine is showing the maturity it deserves with softened tannins and balanced acidity. Lovely dark berries, caramel, smoky accents and spice flavours. A huge finish that keeps giving more of the same spicy fruit and oak. Serve with Lamb and fig brochette in a balsamic glaze.
