Sea Sun Pinot Noir 2018

Well well well, if Pinot Noir tasted like this, I would drink it more often! Medium-bodied, toasted oak, jam berries, dangerously smooth and long finish. Mark this in your "I can't believe it's a Pinot" file. Tasted Thanksgiving 2024.

Dark, inky purple in colour. Aromas of blackberry, toasty vanilla and cedar. Silky smooth finish with long legs, this heavily oaked California Cab punches in at 15%! Flavours of chocolate, cedar, gun powder, pepper and spice. Keep this one in the cellar a bit longer and see how it will open up in the years to come! Tasted October 2022

CabSauv but with a bit of Merlot (12%).. Not a strong nose but delightful. Beautifully smooth on the palette with flavours of cherry, cedar and pepper. Pairs well with steak and mushrooms! Currently on the Keg's wine list. If you ever want to try a $90 wine get a glass at the Keg for a bargain of $17 compared to others on their wine list that run the typical mark up.

Reddish brick brown in colour. Cedar and hint of chocolate on the nose. Astringent tannins and spice on the palate make me wonder if I should have waited another year, but we were eager to open for a special occasion. Long finish. Pair this one with food! A lovely steak or roast would hold up to the structure of the wine. Great gift for long-term storage (e.g. wedding gift to be opened on 3-5 year anniversary). Tasted November 9, 2021

Memorable Wine

Shiraz or CabSauv from Black Opal Winery. Can't get the wine in Ontario, but my aunt always set a bottle aside for me when I'd come visit her! Great memories!

Current Fav Wine

I'm branching out from my usual CabSauv and Shiraz and exploring Zinfandel and CabMerlot wines.
