Quite simply poetry in a glass, this is a wine to weep over. The intensity of fruit, elegant and simple. Barnyard rich, cherry to open it fills the senses and spoils the palate. Found in the SAQ bargain bin, we thought we'd won the lottery, trooped home and honored it with steak, sauteed in butter, black truffle mustard & hand-cut frittes. A rare treat, pair it with celebrations and success.

A heavy bottle and stunningly simple label, pays homage to the truly great wine it embraces. Adjectives such as "spectacular" spring to mind. The combination of merlot, syrah, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc is simply outstanding. The Quatrain could pass for a Chilean wine, with it's robust tannins and multi-layered complexity. It starts with red fruits, but as it warms it becomes completely something else. Herbaceous and earthy with undertones of butterscotch and a hell of a kick at 14%. (As good as French wines three times the price.)

The Inniskillin Sparkling Icewine, with it's poached pear notes and heady spice worked in perfect harmony, with a big chuck of blue cheese, that hint of effervescence really hit my sweet spot. Can't wait to try it with fois gras!

This wine's a bloody superstar. It competes with vintages valued at three times the price. It gives and gives. Bright yet balanced, i could date this wine... have long conversations with it. I also like its sassy cousin, the Camins del Priorat, 2008. marvelous winemaker, gorgeous grape.

Introduced to me by the French Chef in my life, who knows my weakness for bubbly. Amazingly fresh, it's almost a shame to drink it, you'll just want to breathe it... apple, lime, yeast... fizz. Pair it with foie gras and brioche and weep. (OK, maybe that was just me...)
