A balanced red with plum and hints of milk chocolate. Cocoa. Medium-to-full body, with silky tannins and a delicious finish. Balanced and delicious. Score - 92. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Dec. 27, 2011)

Wow. This is really beautiful with loads of blackberry, dark chocolate and meat character. Full and velvety. Love the texture. Fruit and herbs. Best Satta in years. 30% Cabernet, 30% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, 10% Teroldego and 10% Syrah. Score - 92. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Dec. 27, 2011)

Stags' Leap Winery Merlot 2007

Napa Valley California, United States

Samson reviewed this wine:

Also impressive is the 2007 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Napa Valley Merlot ... I feel it is one of the best Merlots out of California. It has an open and extremely complex nose. There are hints of blueberries, mint, cedar, chocolate, and molasses. The dark fruit in the mouth leaps out of the wine. But it is not a fruit bomb. It is too complex and well-balanced. The finish hangs around seemingly forever. It is still very tannic, despite being five years old and made from Merlot. This is a wine that is simply massively structured. Family Vintage Fundo Santa Eugenia De Cholqui Vineyard

Tres Palacios Family Vintage Fundo Santa Eugenia De Cholqui Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Samson reviewed this wine:

An elegant Cabernet featuring red berry fruit, plum, light cassis aromas as well as notes of leather and earth. It's dry, full bodied with balanced acidity and light tannins providing structure on the rich, velvety palate. Very appealing, with the ripe fruit flavours layered with notes of smoke and mint for added interest. Spicy beef fajitas or a pepper steak would make a fine match. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2012)
