Drink Wine and scored this wine: 94/100

This crisp New Zealand sauvignon blanc is attracted to girlfriend get togethers like Oprah cut-outs are attracted to vision boards. If you want your vision board to look like a Jack Russell terrier pawed it together, choose this terrific too-easy-to-drink wine...

06 Quintessa 375ml (Huneeus Vintners, Llc) 2006

Isabel Allende is a Chilean author and one of the people the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals would love to drink wine and giggle with. Isabel loves red wine and one of her friends is Agustin Huneeus, a Chilean who owns Quintessa in Napa Valley. The Drink Wine and Giggle Gals don't usually buy the wine in the locked cabinet at the LCBO (in fact this was a first for us) but we figured Quintessa would be Isabel Allende with two degrees of separation. As Isabel says, "Nice people with common sense do not make interesting characters. They only make good former spouses." Quintessa 2006 is an interesting character with larger-than-life qualities that is well worth becoming intimately acquainted with. p.s. Quintessa doesn't say who she is--she'll only divulge that she expresses the uniqueness of her estate rather than specific varietal characteristics. The Drink Wine and Giggle Gals wish we had Natalie with us to tell us who Quintessa is...

The word "amethyst" comes from Greek and means "not drunken". Therefore the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals always wear amethyst jewelry based on the stone's legendary ability to protect the wearer from drunkenness. Amethystos Red challenged our amethysts' powers of sobriety because it was so very good. Drama Greece is the source of this velvety red wine featuring three naked ladies with wine glasses on the label, proving it's hard to keep your clothes on once the Amethystos hits you. Note to Drink Wine and Giggle Gals: do not consume this wine again in public.

The Drink Wine and Giggle Gals love to drink in the local Canadian flora and fauna. Fortunately, this no longer means a 1.5l bottle of Baby Duck and a box of animal crackers. The complexity of Le Clos Jordanne Pinot Noir demands that it be savoured not quaffed--the Drink WIne and Giggle Gals appreciate any wine that puts the brakes on our intemperate tendencies while igniting our collective patriotism. Le Clos Jordanne pinot noir is one of those wines that makes a gal proud to be Canadian.

Vina Robles White to the fourth power is a blend of Viognier, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino that packs an exponential punch. The Drink Wine and Giggle Gals tend to sip our wine while we're busy doing other things. With White 4 mindlessness is not a good idea--even sewing eyes onto a hand puppet in preparation for another episode of the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals' Masterpiece Puppet Theatre can result in a cross-eyed Richard III with the addition of such a potent blend. White 4's fruity tapestry of aromas and flavours should be sipped mindfully and enjoyed with light fare such as shrimp cocktail or Deb's famous crab and avocado towers with gribiche sauce.
