Villa Maria Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2018 is fresh, vibrant with aromas of fresh cut grass, light green herbs and citrus zest. On the palate, this wine is dry, mouth-watering and citrusy with lemongrass, green herbs and light tropical fruit flavours. Pair with green salads topped with fresh steamed shrimp, vegetable quiches and brunch fare.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: seafood, poultry, quiche and salads.

Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Wine is pale lemon in colour, medium light bodied, mouthwatering acidity, dry and with a pronounced nose of citrus, green apple, gooseberry, and passion fruit. Predominant taste is passion fruit, gooseberry, grapefruit pith and green apple. Wine is slightly spritzy which enhances its refreshing qualities. Great wine for sipping outside or paired with shrimp or simply cooked shellfish or grilled citrus chicken.
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Creative winemaker Richard Painter from Villa Maria, New Zealand’s most awarded winery, was named 'Winemaker of the Year' at the 2018 Royal Easter Show Wine Awards. He was in Montreal July 22 to present the Left Field brand coming soon to the SAQ. We got a peak of his wines at the SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar in Old Montreal.

We first started with a classic Villa Maria wine, their traditional Sauvignon Blanc. A lot of freshness with aromas and flavours of citrus fruits with a nice buttery finish. Pairs well with sea food or goat cheese. Great choice for hot summer days. Classy label. 13% alcohol. Available at the SAQ (Code: 11974951) at $17.75.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The refreshing Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc 2018, from Marlborough, New Zealand, reveals tropical aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, lemon, salt and asparagus. Medium bodied with a short zesty finish, Villa Maria 2018 pleases with its well adjusted acidity. The palate shows grape fruit, lemon, saline, grass and fresh bread. A nice summer sipper that also pairs well with cheese. Enjoy.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Vibrant and fresh. Aromas of fresh cut grass and bright herbs, along with ripe tropical fruit. Nicely balanced fruit, green notes and bright acidity. Enjoy with scallops, shrimp or green salads with citrus dressing.
From Marlborough, New Zealand, Villa Maria Estate Sauvignon Blanc is a dry mouth-watering, citrusy SB with lemongrass, green herbs and light tropical fruit flavours on the palate. Chill and enjoy now. Pair with fresh steamed shrimp, vegetable quiches and brunch.
