A tasty Cabernet that's aromatic offering notes of mocha, toasty oak and smoke on the nose of this red wine with a firm grip on the palate. Nice balance in this Californian Cabernet. The 2015 vintage was a strong one in this Californian of Paso Robles, a warm region. Lots of blackberry and dark chocolate notes on the finish. Smooth and full-bodied. Pair with a grilled meats.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dishes with autumn veggies, rib eye steak on the barbie, meat lover's pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

With the grapes hailing from J. Lohr's highest altitude vineyard in Paso Robles - this full bodied red has wonderfully intertwined layers and flavors. Aromas of smoke, chocolate and blackberry with a mouthful of dark fruit, cassis, mocha and luscious, yet firm tannins, very well balanced.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Berry nose, a bit astringent. Could use more time in cellar as is still young.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Cabernet Sauvignon is dark with purple hues. On the nose, aromas of cassis, black current, cacao and wet wood. On the palate, dark berry flavours with a touch of sweet spice. The tannins are medium with a good acidity.

This wine would pair well with braised beef or with a hearty stew.

J. Lohr Hilltop (2015) is toasty and smoky on the nose with mocha, ripe blackberry and cassis on the palate. Great balance on this grippy Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles. Pair with slow-braised beef ribs. - Community Wine Reviews
