Yellow Barn Winery' is the only winery in Watertown New York. Watertown has one of the most challenging climates to grow wine grapes in the United States. We can have snow in late May or June and frost in early September. We also can get as cold as minus 40 degree F.

Yellow Barn Wineries is a environmental friendly (Green Industry) worthy of your support.

Yellow Barn Winery uses very little energy (a small carbon footprint).
A. Energy requirements are minimal. We utilize Mother Nature to assist in the wine making process, i.e. cold stabilizes wines during winter.
B. Use very little fossil fuel energy and are exploring the use of solar energy.
C. Recycle all by-products in an organically positive way on the farm.
D. .90 cents out of every dollar purchase goes back into the local commnity or other NY businesses.
E. All products produced on the farm are produced in a bio-friendly manner.
F. We produce wine from grape varieties that are sustainable and biologiecally compatible with our environment.
G. We use natural products to grow our grapes.
H. WE MAKE REALLY GOOD WINE.
In 2002 we started experimenting with cold hardy grapes on our farm in Watertown NY. I was probably the only one around that was happy to have our temperature hit minus 40 and see our grapes survive and produce that year.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
