Bob was part of the team that founded Sheldrake Point in the spring of 1997. His background includes over 20 years in international high tech marketing and sales, as well as work within the wine industry in Ontario, Canada as a cellar rat, a sales rep, a wine importer and wine judge (WSET Advanced, AWS & AWO qualified). As an oenophile and passionate Pinot Noir fan, Bob’s travels have taken him to many of the key winegrowing regions of the world. Bob judges at such wine competitions as the Finger Lakes International.

As Winegrower, he participates in the strategic direction for our vineyard, winery and wine products. A winegrower is much like an architect, providing an overarching design that responds to viticultural and winemaking opportunities and by working in collaboration with the skilled and expert craftsmanship of our Vineyard Manager and our Winemaker.Sheldrake Point is the most prominent point of land on the west coast of Cayuga Lake and holds an equally prominent place in history. For centuries, the protected coves, rushing streams and gentle slopes provided for the largest settlements of native Cayuga Indians. Early in the 1800s, Sheldrake Point became a destination for ferries serving the lake and the beauty of the lake was quickly discovered.

By the late 1800s, "Summering at Sheldrake" became popular and many urban village residents made it their vacation destination. The comfortable summer breezes on the veranda of the Cayuga Lake Hotel at Sheldrake were a welcome alternative to the city heat. Following the turn of the century the hotel was destroyed by a fire, and Sheldrake became more of a year-round community than a resort destination.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
