In 1844, a merchant named John Alexander came to Milton. 1850 began the wheat era in Wisconsin and John grew wheat, and built a lime mortar warehouse in the fashion of the Joseph Goodrich buildings, to store his grain and his neighbor's grain. When the warehouse was full he would take the wheat to Milwaukee to barter for goods he and his neighbors needed. 161 years later, John Alexander's wheat warehouse still stands. It has since housed several businesses. After the wheat era, it is rumored to have held a blacksmith shop. The history after that is recorded: In 1911 the Park Place Garage moved in, and opened a showroom for Overland Autos. The Sunnyview Orchard began selling apples and cider out of the warehouse around 1946, continuing for over forty years. It was put on the National Registry of Historic places in 1978. In 2007, construction of an addition and restoration of the building began in order to become the home of Northleaf Winery, officially open on February 11, 2009.
We invite you to come and experience the history!

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
