Naramata is easily the premier growing region in British Columbia, with it’s moderate temperatures, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes. The rolling hills and variable soil types result in growing sites with unique microclimates that can be matched to the right varieties by an experienced grape grower. No matter what style of wine you like, you will find it in Naramata.

Drawing its name from the Kettle Valley Railway, which traveled through the Naramata area on the east side of Okanagan Lake, the winery opened to the public in 1996. Kettle Valley Winery is known for it’s dark, intense and well structured red wines, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and blends such as “Old Main Red”. Chardonnay has been the main white wine produced, but in recent years Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc have also proved popular. They are all flavourful and aromatic, with a rich mouth feel.

Drop by the winery to purchase wines and sample selected varieties. With a small wine shop groups of eight or more are asked to call ahead and book an appointment. Follow Naramata Road north on the east side of Okanagan Lake to the Naramata Fire hall, then turn left onto Debeck. Follow Debeck west towards Okanagan lake, at the T junction turn left onto Hayman Road and follow it south. Wine Shop and Winery are located at the south end of Hayman Road.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
