Vineyards: 218 ha

Shortly after it was established, the House of G.H. Mumm implemented an unusual supply strategy – buying grapes directly from growers in the best areas, rather than buying must. This enabled the House to select the best quality grapes and oversee their pressing. Presses were also built near G.H. Mumm’s own vineyards. The grapes could thus be pressed swiftly after picking, parcel by parcel, keeping the raw material in good condition. In the mid-19th century, G.H. Mumm built brand new cellars and facilities better suited to the needs of the champagne trade of the time. G.H. Mumm also helped create the "Syndicat du commerce de vin de Champagne", forerunner of the current trade body for the region, the "Comité Interprofessionnel des vins de Champagne".

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
