Edmonds Winery is a small boutique winery located in the Woodinville Warehouse District on the north end of Woodinville, WA. Edmonds is family owned and operated by Doug (winemaker) and Lael (general manager) Petersen, who started the winery in their garage in Edmonds, WA in 2002. Bentley(the winery dog) is the official greeter at the tasting room. Edmonds is dedicated to the science of winemaking, the art of blending and a passion for elegant, well made wines. Edmonds specializes in old world style Bordeaux blends, and stress low alcohol levels, allowing the nuances and characteristics of the fruit to be the prominent feature of the wines.

We hand craft our wines in small open top fermentation tanks and age in small oak barrels for up to 2 years. Our goal is to create outstanding wines that demonstrate the characteristics of the varieties we produce and also the terroir of the vineyards where the grapes are grown. Our fruit comes from farmer owned and operated vineyards in Yakima Valley, Horse Heaven Hills and Wahluke Slope AVAs.

We made our first wine at the turn of the century: a Cabernet Sauvignon, with 500 pounds of grapes from Sagemore Vineyards.

Since then we have also made Chardonnay, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and several other Bordeaux style blending wines. Our goal is to make our wines in a lighter fashion, for the most part just letting the wine make itself, with minimal intervention. We are striving to keep the alcohol content in the mid 13% range, yet well balanced and with good structure. We want our wines to represent the character and flavors of the grapes they are made from as well as the terroir of the vineyards.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
