Dragonfly Hill Vineyard is located on historic acreage on the magnificent Saanich Peninsula of Southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

One hundred years ago, this exceptionally fertile land was home to a flourishing apple orchard and later to gently rolling strawberry fields. With the planting of vines in 1993, Dragonfly Hill - named for the many colourful dragonflies that thrive here - was transformed into the first commercial vineyard in Saanich.

Varieties selected were Ortega, a hybrid of two old German vines, Pinot Auxerrois, an old French wine grape celebrated in Alsace, and Schoenburger, a wonderfully tasty grape that is winding its way into local gardens.

Tapping into regional wine making expertise and employing sustainable farming methods, Dragonfly Hill has become a prime grower of exciting new varietals to the Island, ideal for producing robust, world-class wines.

This season, we look to expand the vineyard by planting a block of early ripening reds, including some Blattner crosses and St. Laurent, an old French varietal that we proudly call "the Pinot Noir of the North."

At Dragonfly Hill Vineyard, we believe that cultivating exceptional wine is much more than an exacting science. It is a time honored and evolving art.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
