rett and Debra Halby’s love for their rescued dachshunds, Izzy, Doodle and Luke, is the inspiration behind Dachshund Wines. After visiting the famous vineyards of Germany, Brett and Debra set in motion a project to pay homage to two of their great passions. A German wine celebrating a German dog, what could be more fitting? Collaborating with their partners, who produce beautiful German wines, the first Dachshund Wine, a Riesling, was launched in 2013 and is now sold nationally. A Pinot Noir Rose, Bubbles, Chardonnay and Cabernet followed.
Dachshund Wines is more than a good bottle of wine wrapped in a cute label. With first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by rescue doxies, and a soft spot in their hearts for their three, the Halbys find that supporting the work of dachshund rescues and breed enthusiasts is the most rewarding part of the Dachshund Wines mission. The Halbys live in the Sonoma Valley with their daughter, three dachshunds, one cat and a flock of chickens. Cheers & Woof!

“Nothing will turn a man’s home into a castle more quickly and effectively than a dachshund.” – Queen Victoria

The Dachshund Riesling is quite the thirst quencher. But like all good dachshunds, it’s somewhere between the long and short of sweet and dry. It accompanies a wide variety of foods from grilled salmon to pepperoni pizza. Best of all, it’s made in honor of our favorite hound! See what one of our customers has to say about it on our Facebook page. And learn more about our other Dachshund Wines below.

Try this wine with salads, grilled poultry and seafood. Or, like every dachshund we know, simply enjoy it alone sipping while basking in the sunshine!

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
