We make every attempt to utilize environmentally sound practices both in the vineyard and in our packaging by focusing on sustainable practices. Mirage, Candy Mountain, and LeFore Vineyards are all farmed by Premier Partners with the environment in mind and contribute to the high quality wines we produce. American-made glass, naturally dyed labels, and natural conglomerate cork closures are just a few of the choices we have made to support this valuable trend in our industry. Everything we use from the vineyard is either returned to the ground as fertilizer or recycled into a new product. Whether its the skins, stems and seeds or the pummice left over from pressing our team is adamant about returning these products to the earth from which they originate. Even our remaining lees are crafted into products for the local market.

We age our wines in three to five-year-old French Oak barrels for ten to twenty months. This allows you, the consumer, to taste the fruit, soil, and vintage characteristics rather than the wood on which the wine was stored. We strive to produce single vineyard wines in a true craftsman style. In fact, we are now producing single block wines, which we are very excited to share in the upcoming vintage. By using this minimalist approach to winemaking we are confident that our wines will offer a true reflection of the terroir.

Great wine should be fun and easy to drink. From this simple idea Balboa was created and set out to create affordable, accessible wines that provide a total sensory experience. From the vineyard to the bottle, inside and out, our passion for making wine is never overlooked, resulting in exceptional wines at excellent prices.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
