Cool mint and lusciously rich and ripe blackberries on the nose. Full-bodied, smooth and supple with a long, smoky finish. Very complex and satisfying.

The Plunkett Fowles Stone Dweller Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 is great value for the price! This full bodied beauty features aromas and flavours of dark fruit, black berries and currants. Smooth at first with an intense finish – paired very well with the lamb sliders. Tasted at the Australian High Commission Ottawa Fowles Wine Tasting on April 8, 2014 (92/100)

Deep ruby medium+ bodied beauty. The typical graphite is evident from start to finish in this wine. Perhaps a nod to the terroir of Fowles Wineries. 440 Million year old granite boulders and extremely infertile dirt. "Better dirt than France!" boasted winemaker Matt Fowles.
Graphite nose leads to sour cherry, cassis, plum, vanilla, smoke, leather and mint. Tannins are smooth. Drink now and enjoy over the next few years.

Perhaps this is a great new world example of "Sense of Place" or "Terroir" as the soil of Matt Fowles winery is laced with ancient graphite boulders and is INfertile thereby focusing its energy on the grapes, and producing better wines.
