Apricot tart and peach jam on this lovely Hungarian dessert wine. Not heavy or cloying, just lovely. Pair with fruit flans and cobblers. Furmint is Hungary's iconic grape, especially when making sweet and semi-sweet wines. Chill this wine lightly.

Furmint food pairings: fruit crepes, applesauce upside down cake, pear galette.

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Wow - what a great dessert wine and at less than 1/3 the price of most ice wines. If you want to impress your dinner company but don't want to break the bank look no further.

This is a blend of 85% Furmint (the signature grape of Hungary) and 15% Hárslevelu that was hand harvested in late November.

The result is a golden yellow, fairly viscous, late harvest wine with aromas of apricot, honey and marmalade. A wine that would match perfectly with crepes filled with cream and sweet berries, crème brûlée or a a pear tarte tatin, just to name a few. I also like the fact that the alcohol level is not overly high for such a sweet wine (14%)

You know the rule - your wine should be sweeter than your dessert (and with 130 g/l this will likely fit the bill).

Furmint is a signature grape of Hungary, particularly in sweet (and semi-sweet) wines such as this. This Tokaj-Hegyalja from Hungary is a perfect match for baked apple or peach crepes. Serve lightly chilled. - Community Wine Reviews
