This is an attractive, voluptuous Spanish red wine from the heart of the Rioja region. Aromas of dark berries, spice, vanilla smoke and plums. Polished tannins with a good finish. Very balanced. Pair with grilled lamb.

Food pairings: rack of lamb, rib eye steak, lamb and roasted root vegetable stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dark red cherry, blackberry, stewed ripe strawberries, vanilla, dark chocolate, licorice and hints of leather. Flavours include smoked cherries, red fruit, light skinned plum, blueberry, paprika and smoked meat. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Very well balanced and quite nice. Succulent and well rounded. A good pairing with grilled dry rubbed ribs and chorizo.

Produced by Seleccion de Familia Crianza, Vivanco Selección De Familia Crianza (2012) is a classic Rioja red made from 100% Tempranillo grapes. The wine is aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels. The wine is elegant, rich with strawberry fruit, vanilla and spice. Great with grilled fare. - Community Wine Reviews
