The consistency of Marlborough Pinot Noir is remarkable, and especially for Villa Maria. This winery has a signature Pinot that comes through each year yet reflect the vintage differences.Plush and voluptuous: you'll want to dive head first into this wine (or your glass) and never come out. Fleshy cherries balanced with a nervy acidity that makes it dance with many dishes. Yes please!

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Cherry and oak on the nose with a nice mixture of cherry, plum and earth flavors. A dash of spice gives it a nice lingering finish.
Terry Jeans - Certified S rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pale ruby colour. Some nice red cherry, earthiness, with some woody hints. The flavours are similar to the nose, with predominately ripe red cherries and underbrush balanced with medium acidity. A good pinot for a roast chicken or turkey.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cherry, cranberry, and rosewater, this is a lovely perfumed delicate Pinot noir. Palate is very mouthwatering and refreshing and the fruit is. Pure tasting. Lovely wine to pair with a meaty red fish such as Sockeye salmon.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Pinot Noir from New Zealand's Villa Maria packs a bit of a punch! It's medium body gives it the ability to stand up to foods like game or lamb. It has lots of cherry flavour with some herb and peppery notes in the finish. A versitile wine!
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Oct 5, 2014: Pale ruby, raspberry, cranberry, sour chery and a floral nose with clove and delicate wood spice. Nice repeat of flavours on the palate from the nose. Medium light body, good acidity and light tannins with a medium finish. Well put together, drink over the next couple of years with duck breast or cedar planked salmon.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A nose of sweet cherries, earthiness and barnyard, herbs and spices. The taste is similar, and has some nice tannins to give it some nice structure. A bit young, but a nice wine for ham or turkey.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Candied cherry, vanilla, herbal and earthy notes on the nose. Refreshing mouthfeel with a long cherry and baking spice finish. Medium bodied, this would be a nice complement to grilled lamb dishes. Tasted October 2014. 88 points. Matt Steeves @QuercusVino
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A light, flavourful pinot noir. There is a slight earthiness along with tart cherry and strawberry on the nose. Fruit flavours carry through on the palate. Would be a great match with Thanksgiving dinner or maybe some salmon.
Marco Giovanetti rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Lots of red cherry character with tomato and aromatic herbs. Medium body, lean and quite elegant. Burgundian in style
Kristin Perrin rated this wine as 77/100 with the following review:

Piney cherry nose
Light bodied, medium plus acidity, more cherry and pine on the palate.
