Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This wine has lots of pear and floral notes, with a hint of allspice and cinnamon - a really pretty nose. The palate has flavors of orange and nectarine. It is a very easy pleasing style of wine. The palate has a chalky texture delivering a great palate weight - balanced acidity and lingering finish.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Marlborough Pinot Gris has pretty aromas of white florals, ripe pear and hints of nutmeg. The palate flavours reveal delicious notes of orange peel, pear, nectarine, and roast almonds. Very well-balanced on the mouth with an elegant long finish. Versatile as a well-chilled aperitif or to accompany lightly-spiced Asian dishes. Perhaps a visit is in order to Ottawa's favourite spot for egg rolls, the Golden Palace Restaurant on Carling at Woodroffe.

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Villa Maria's premium Pinot Gris is sourced exclusively from the Marlborough region in picturesque New Zealand. This Pinot Gris is very expressive, with notes of pear, orchard fruit, citrus, and spice. The palate is creamy with subtle honey and juicy pear on the long finish. Enjoy this wine pre-meals, and carry on throughout with complex salads, grilled fish, seafood, and one of my favourite pairings, spicy Asian cuisine. Tasted November 2016. 90 points. Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

There has been some exciting Pinot Gris coming out of New Zealand and this one is no exception! I can see how Pinot Gris is the fastest growing wine category in New Zealand. It's floral on the nose with prominent tropical and orchard fruit flavours on the palate. This wine is off-dry with high balancing acidity and a long finish with lasting spicy pickled ginger notes. Enjoy with Thai shrimp spring rolls. Tasted Nov 2016 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Another lovely Pinot Gris from Villa Maria, this one made from Marlborough fruit. Pretty in the glass, with stone fruit, pear and delicate floral aromas; spiced pear and nutty flavours, creamy mouthfeel, off-dry and coming across as almost full-bodied. Gentle acidity keeps it all in balance. Serve this well-chilled as a sipper or with honey-hoisin glazed chicken skewers.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Heady floral, nectarine and lime peel notes carry through on the palate, with a slight spicy finish. Wonderful with spicier dishes, or Chinese food.
