Natalie's Score: 87/100

A juicy, full-bodied Niagara red wine blend of 88% Pinot Noir and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The wine is made using the Appasimento method of drying grapes first and allowing them to sit in contact with wine for 10 days so that a second fermentation takes place. Aromas of purple and black plums that are fleshy sweet. Some prunes on the finish. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Vieni Estates Ripasso boasts heady aromas of strawberry and floral notes. Two years in French oak barrels helps bring out the complexity that this wine has to offer - both sassy and delicate.

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is Pinot Noir (88%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (12%) Red blend done in a Ripasso style. Aged 2 yrs. in Canadian Oak giving it a robust earthy touch. Aromas and flavours of plum, green and red pepper and rich ripe sweet berries. Medium acidity and finish with medium plus body. Off dry, rich vibrant and full. Can stand up to hearty beef stews. 88 points November 2017 -Tasted @OttawaWineFood
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Predominantly Pinot Noir with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon repassed over appassimento skins for 10 days. This extended second maceration adds tannin and enhances aromas and flavours while the second fermentation builds up a little extra body. Enjoyable blend of fresh and dried red fruits on the nose and palate. Medium body, moderate tannins, and good acidity. Allow to breathe while cooking up a heart meal; lasagna, roast, or ribs.
