The vineyards from where the Falanghina Beneventano wine grapes for Vesevo Beneventano 2017 rise 450-550 metres above sea level tempered by the cool breezes off the Bay of Naples. This same breeze has, over the centuries, blown volcanic ash from Vesuvius inland, giving the soil here a volcanic character rich in minerals and trace elements. Wine grapes undergo low-temperature fermentation retaining its aromatic citrusy and flinty nose and on the palate, the wine is dry with white florals, honeysuckle, soft citrus flavours with a smoky, flinty finish. Good acidity for food. Pair with a seafood pasta dish.

Falanghina food pairings: pan-fried freshwater fish, steamed clams and mussels hotpot, crab cakes.

Reviews and Ratings

Vesevo Beneventano 2017 is made from the Falanghina wine grape grown in the Beneventano zone. The grapes for this wine were sourced from volcanic soils near Mount Vesuvius. Low-temperature fermentation allows the wine to retain its aromatic citrusy and flinty nose and on the palate, the wine is dry with white florals, fresh citrus, honey and mineral flavours on the palate. The vineyards rise 450-550 metres above sea level and benefit from the cool breezes off the Bay of Naples. This same breeze has, over the centuries, blown volcanic ash from Vesuvius inland, giving the soil here a volcanic character rich in minerals and trace elements. - Community Wine Reviews
