Classic mature, complex Brunello: don't look for fruit. Instead expect subtle aromas of leather, cigar box and dried herbs. Full-bodied and smooth. Perfect for discussions about the latest developments in the field of astro physics. Great balance and lots of length on the finish. Pair this terrific D.O.C.G. wine with wild boar with black truffles.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: grilled meats, game.

Reviews and Ratings

Frank Bosco rated this wine as 95/100
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby garnet aromas and flavours of warm spices, leather, earthy, touch floral. Shows signs of aging gracefully and still developing. Full-bodied with polished tannins. The craftsmanship is evident in this premium Tuscany DOCG red wine. Highly recommend. Pair with char grilled meats or finer cuts of beef.
Tasted: August 2015
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

From Tuscany, DOCG, Italy, made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. Dark garnet red with ripe cherries and dark chocolate on nose; the rich palate gives cherries, spice, leather, mocha, earthy notes. Dry, rich and satisfying finish.
The 2009 vintage of this Brunello is made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes that are estate grown in the southern region of Montalcino. Pair with wild game meats. Good acidity and polished tannins. - Community Wine Reviews
