A terrific full-bodied red wine for the money! Robust, generous aromas and flavours of blackberries and black plums. There's toasty oak and dark chocolate on the finish with some blackberry preserves. Vanilla spice gives it a kick. Try it with a pepper steak.

Malbec Oak food pairings: lamb cutlets, beef tenderloin, pasta.

Reviews and Ratings

Paul Grinnell rated this wine as 91/100
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2007 Valle Las Acequias Oak Malbec, aged in French Oak barrels for 10 months, has intense aromas of prune on the nose and strawberry and raspberry on the palate. It is a full bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; with good acidity, refined tannins (decant for 30+ min) and a long and smooth finish. It is food friendly or can be enjoyed on its own; drink now to 2020 and beyond. My impression: NICE, 89-90 pts. Tasted Jan/14.

The malbec grapes are grown on 85-year-old low vines and the wine spends 10 months in French oak, 6 months in bottle before being released. Source: Winery
