Lemon lanolin on the nose of this attractive Australian white wine made from Semillon grapes, with a refreshing zestiness yet rich texture. Tyrrell’s winery accidentally left a section of Semillon grapes on the vine allowing it to ripen more than usual back in 1993. Thus the name “Lost Block.” The result was a richly flavoured white wine with mouth-brightening acidity. Lovely white for so many dishes.

Semillon food pairings: sautéed mussels, barbecued freshwater fish, pizza with spinach and feta cheese.

This Semillon from Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia shows inviting pineapple, apple and white florals on nose. The fruit-driven palate shows apple, tropical white fruit, melon and slight citrus in a smooth, silky mouthfeel.

Tyrell's “Lost Block” is one of several Hunter Valley Semillons that the estate produce from its Vat 1. Love the low alcohol of 11%. - Community Wine Reviews
